Indie Game Support by Derek Larson

Help your game make a stronger first impression.

I help indie developers find player friction, create trailers that sell the experience, and build Steam pages that turn attention into wishlists.

Every project is handled directly by me. You get honest feedback, clear communication, and someone who understands how much work goes into making a game.

How I Can Help

Three services built around the same goal.

Make the game easier to understand, more exciting to discover, and more convincing when a player reaches the Steam page.

01

Qualitative Playtesting

Player experience, friction, bugs, clarity, pacing, and game feel.

02

Trailer Creation

Direct collaboration, gameplay capture, editing, music, and delivery.

03

Steam Page Support

Page reviews, page builds, clarity, wishlists, and conversions.

Playtesting

Find out how your game actually feels to play.

My playtesting focuses on the player experience. I look for the moments where players may feel confused, frustrated, bored, overwhelmed, or unsure what to do next. I also highlight what is already working well and where the game feels strongest.

Large-scale playtests are useful for showing what a group of players did. My work goes deeper into why they reacted that way. This type of feedback is especially valuable when you are improving onboarding, controls, pacing, difficulty, clarity, or the overall feel of your game before a demo, festival, major update, or launch.

Trailer Creation

Work directly with the person creating your trailer.

When you hire me, you are working directly with me throughout the entire process. There is no account manager, support queue, or middleman between you and the person capturing footage, editing the trailer, and making the creative decisions.

I stay easy to reach through X DMs, email, or Discord, so you are never left wondering what is happening with your project. I also bring my playtesting and Steam page experience into every trailer. I am not just trying to make the footage look good. I am looking for the moments that make your game exciting, easy to understand, and worth adding to a wishlist.

Steam Page Support

Make every part of your Steam page work harder.

Your Steam page has to do more than look nice. The capsule needs to earn the click. The short description needs to create interest. The trailer and screenshots need to keep the player engaged. The rest of the page needs to make the game clear and give them a reason to wishlist or buy it.

Even a strong game can lose potential players when one part of that process is not doing its job. After reviewing hundreds of indie Steam pages, I have seen many of the same problems appear again and again. I can help you spot what may be hurting clicks, clarity, wishlists, and conversions, or help you build a new page or completely overhaul the one you already have.
